I'll admit it, I have a horrible habit of forgetting things I have to do. This happens all the time. Between meetings, parties, events, and classwork, I constantly find myself forgetting things I should be doing. This is one of the reasons why I think keeping a planner is so important. A small planner can help to keep event the most forgetful person organized. Now, with planners and online calendars galore, I have finally found my way to keep everything together. Here are some of my favorite methods.
#1: A planner
I love having all my stuff jotted down in a planner. I find having a planner that I can take with me is extremely helpful to keep me organized. One thing you will notice about me is that I like to use highlighters and different colored pens. I find the different colors often draws my attention in more, pushing me to check on it more. I currently use a Kate Spade Agenda in medium/black and white stripes. I really love the look of the planner and it does a good job at keeping me organized.
#2: A desk pad
Recently I got a weekly desk pad from Rifle Paper Co. and I absolutely love it. The quality of the paper is pretty high quality, but I love that it is a week at a glance for me. So any events, assignments, etc. is all there at a glance broken down by day. I will often have the days the readings are due on my planner, but have the days the readings are planned on the desk pad.
#3: Traditional Calendar
Aside from the monthly calendar in my planner, I like to keep a larger one hanging near my desk. It isn't necessary, but I like having one nearby when studying as a way to just glance and see my month in review.
#4 iCalendar
I am a recent Mac convert, and currently have an iPad and iPhone as well. So I have been loving iCal more and more now. I download all my class dates and times from the school website as well as any other deadlines they have. Then I sync all of the Facebook events I am invited to, as well as any other events I can think of. By using iCal to do this, it automatically goes onto my phone and iPad so I can check it all at on the go.
#5 Post-its
I am a bit of a post-it addict. I have them in a large range of colors and sizes to suit my needs. I love leaving little posts it on my desk, bulletin board, or wherever I would see them to remind me of thing I will likely forget like sending an email. I also keep digital post-its on my desktop with lists of readings and assignments coming up.
#6 Notes
As an avid iPhone enthusiast, I love having using the notes app to jot down anything on my mind. Before I go grocery shopping, I will often jot down the things I need to buy. I used to use a post-it for this, but I always seemed to forget the post-it on my desk, so having it on my phone makes it so much easier. I also love that I can edit and create new lists on my mac and have it sync to my phone and iPad.
I hope this helps anyone else that also suffers from chronic forgetfulness!
