Fake Lorac Pro?

Hey everyone!

Recently I decided to pick up the Lorac pro. My ulta was sold out of it so I decided to purchase one from ebay. I've never had a bad experience with purchasing counterfeit makeup, so I never thought I would get one. Especially since I was ordering the pro palette and i've never heard anything about fake Lorac products. So it was a massive shock to recieve a counterfeit product.

There were a few obvious signs that the palette was fake. One is the off smell. It smelled quite chemically, which is already an unusual thing for Lorac products. Another was the feel. I have the Lorac pro to go palette, so I am familiar with the feel and scent of it, which made it clear something was wrong with this one. The feel of it should be slightly rubbery, and with the eBay one, it just felt like a normal, non-texturized material.

Next was the back of the palette. First, the QR code was greyish in tone, which struck me as odd. There was also a discrepency with the font of the text. In comparison to my Pro to go, it looked uneven and even had a typo of 32 oz rather than the .32 oz it should have. It also was missing a batch number that is clearly present on the real palette.

When you open the palette, there is a discrepency in the way in which the palette should look. They white shadow had crumbled and gotten over the palette, the lettering looked worn off, there was a stronger smell as the palette was opened, and glue on the mirror and the bind.

The mini primers that the palette comes with was another tell. The writing was also off on the tubes, and the actual product felt goopy and glue-like from the fake palette. I have a full sized tube of the primer, and the feeling was extremely different.

The last major difference was the swatched. I swatched slate in both the real palette and the fake palette and the swatches clearly show a difference in quality. The fake one was much more powdery and looked quite different from the real one.

Final thoughts: I got my money back from eBay for it, but I couldn't believe that there is fake Lorac Pros out there. Be warned. After further research, I found that there are sites that sell Lorac Pros in bulk as "replicas" and there was a video from a spanish beauty blogger who bought one for 10 Euros, and a pinterest board with photos comparing another fake palette. I put a few more pictures on the bottom to show the quality differences.
