Sephora Give Me Some Lip 2012 vs 2013

Hey everyone!

I found this post I wrote a long time ago and I guess I just never published it. I am really trying to be more consistent with posting, but it is really hard to keep up with posting and a heavy classload. I am planning for a blog revival this summer, so lookout for that! In the meantime, enjoy this post! XO, Lexy

Sephora has released a whole slew of amazing kits. Many of which I have my eye on. One I did pick up was the Give Me Some Lip kits. Both the regular one and this brand new Give Me Some More Lip, a super sized version with more and larger sizes. I just placed the order, so the review will probably not be for another week or so.

But, I did pick up the $25 kit a few weeks ago so I can tell you about that one. Actually, I still have every item from last year's kit as well. So I thought that it would be interesting to compare this year's kit to last year's and let you know which items were hits and misses.

Last year, the kit was also $25 and contained:
- 0.12 oz Hourglass Extreme Sheen High Shine Lip Gloss  in Child
- 0.50 oz Sephora Glossy Gloss in Precious Pink
- 0.08 oz Fresh Sugar Rosé Tinted Lip Treatment
- 0.08 oz Bite Beauty Lip Shine in Vintage
- 0.10 oz Tarte LipSurgence Natural Matte Lip Tint in Hope
- 0.10 oz Laura Mercier Lip Glacé in Baby Doll

This year, it contains:

- 0.07 oz Buxom® Full-On™ Lip Polish in Dolly
- 0.14 oz NARS Lip Gloss in Turkish Delight
- 0.08 oz Fresh Sugar Rosé Tinted Lip Treatment
- 0.05 oz Bite Beauty High Pigment Pencil in Rhubarb
- 0.10 oz Tarte LipSurgence™ Lip Luster in Glitzy
- 0.10 oz Laura Mercier Lip Glacé in Bare Pink

So which kit is better?

Obviously, I would say that the give me more lip kit is the best because it gives you the most product. In all actuality, it really comes down to if you think you will wear most of the lip products or not. When i picked up the give me more lip, I knew that there were going to be a few duds in the box for me. One being the smashbox lipstick in nylon nude. the color is actually lighter than what I would personally use for concealer, so I really have no clue what to do with that shade. Another dud was the Too Faced lipstick in marshmellow bunny. It looked gorgeous in the tube, but the coloring was too pale and it emphasised all of the creases in my lip, and would cling to any dry skin if I hadn't exfoliated prior to wearing it. But after considering a few duds could be in the set, I still chose to buy it and I couldn't be happier that I did. So definately think about whether or not the products will work for your before buying. That being said, the small give some lip kits are actually a nice way to try out a variety of lip products without spending an arm and a leg on overpriced minis or full sized products. From year to year, the product brands have not seemed to change much at all. the products slightly varied, or even remained the same. So keep an eye out for duplicates with holiday sets. For instance, buxom loves throwing the shade dolly in a lot of their kits. Its a gorgeous shade, but i really don't need 5 mini tubes of it. From sets, or point perks. Regardless, I love these kits and I will likely purchase another one in 2014.
