Naked Basics

Hey everyone!

As many of you know, I am a big fan of Urban Decay eyeshadow palettes. The pigmentation and blendability is almost unrivaled! Lorac's shadows are just a tad bit more pigmented, but have more fallout. One thing that is always missing from UD palettes are a nice selection of mattes. To be quite honest, I was never a huge matte eyeshadow lover. But I now have a new founded appreciation for them. So now, I feel like it finally is the perfect time to review the Naked Basics palette!

This palette is unique to anything UD has ever put out because almost all of the palette is matte shades. The only exception is Venus, which has a more satin/pearl finish. The palette also features a matte black, which is pretty rare for a good palette.

Shades:
- Venus- Venus is a gorgeous cream shade with a satin/pearl finish. I think its a little too shiny as a brow highlight, since I prefer a matte highlight. My favorite way of using this shade is either lighly as a lid shade, or as a transformer shade. Sometimes I like to layer it overtop of a matte shadow to make my eyeshadow pop out a bit more, so this shade works amazingly well for that purpose.
- Foxy- Foxy and Walk of Shame are similar shades. they are both light cream shades, but they differ in color based. Foxy is a cream shade with a strong yellow undertone. I personally don't get much use out of the shade because of its strong undertone.
- Walk of Shame- Walk of Shame is a cream shade with a pink undertone. This is my favorite shade in the palette to use a browbone highlight because the pink tone helps to counteract with my yellow undertone.
- Naked 2- Naked 2 is a nice light-medium brown shade. I like using this as an all over shade, and sometimes as a very subtle brow highlight
- Faint- Faint is a medium brown shade that is multipurpose. I use this as a crease definer shade, and as my go to brow powder.
- Crave- Crave is a perfect matte black shade we all seem to crave in our palettes. A matte black is such a versatile shade that can be used for darkening the outer corners, as a liner, etc. So this is a perfect shade to keep in a neutral trave palette.

Verdict:
After some warming up to it, I really have to say I really love this palette. I personally think $27 is a bit much for 6 shades, but it has been a staple go to palette for me, and I would repurchase it if I lost it or went through it. I love the compact size of this which makes it an essential for a travel bag or an on the go makeup bag.

You can purchase this palette for $27 at Urban Decay.com or Sephora
