Hey everyone!
Its been a long time since my last post. College has been crazy, and blogging hasn't been high on the priority list.
But while being here, I had to learn one major thing: a simple go to look is essential- Its hard to do a full face of makeup everyday. With finals around the corner, I remember my struggle last quarter. I didn't have time at all to put on anything but chapstick. But since then, I have been able to create a simple 5 minute look that is fairly effortless.
Step 1: Eyes
- Typically, I like to have perfectly blended neutral eyes, but when in a time crunch, that is not a possibility. Some days, i'll opt for a cream shadow base, like the Tarte amazonian clay waterproof eyeshadow in rich brown, and top it off with a little powder shadow, like ones from the naked basics palette to lock it all in place.
- Other days, I don't even have time for that. Then its a quick swipe of eyeliner. I typically use my Stila stay all day felt tip liner, or an Urban Decay 24/7 glide on.
-Then I follow whichever with eyelash curling and a quick swipe of mascara, and waterlining after I finish setting the concealer under the eyes.
Step 2: Face
- My first step is primer. I use whatever I have on hand. Lately its been either the Smashbox photofinish, Lancome la base pro, or Porefessional by Benefit when I want my skin to look even better.
- Next is concealer. I have many different ones on hand, but my favorites at the moment are either Benefit fakeup or the Kat von D tattoo concealer.
- Then its my foundation. When in a time crunch, I often find that liquid is too fussy, and time consuming, so either a power foundation comes into play or none at all. When I say none, I mean just concealer in problem areas like undereye and blemishes, and then the quick topping of a setting powder to lock it all in place. I normally opt for Rimmel's stay matte. And I usually sweep a little on my T-zone, to keep it from being visibly oily. If I do have the time for powder, I usually use either the Bareminerals ready foundation or the Benefit hello flawless with a big flat angled kabuki or a large kabuki brush.
Step 3: Color
- This is the one step that often gets most neglected. I often swipe on a little blush, but sometimes I don't even have time for that. If I do have that extra time, I will use something out of my Nars palettes, or a Tarte blush. As for bronzing and highlighting, If I have time, I will place some bronzer to warm up the face and a little highlighter on the cheekbones.
- Lastly, a quick swipe of tinted lip balm is always a nice touch to give yourself a little color to the lips, and make the look a little more put together.
I hope this helps anyone who struggles with applying makeup on the go!
