I decided to pull out an old makeup bag i've had for quite a while, the Kat Von D z zip top bag. Normally, I keep around 15 different lip products. I found it hard to limit myself, but I picked a few good ones to keep around. One is the Rimmel Showoff. I had purchased 4 of them when they initially came out, but they sat around in my lip drawer for a long time. When I went back to San Francisco for Christmas, I decided to play with a few different products I haven't pulled out in a while. I picked up this one and I remembered why I loved this formula so much. Now its just the perfect no mirror lip gloss with a good amount of pigment. If I want something more of a matte finish, I love the Bite Beauty High Pigment Lip Pencil in Rhubarb. It has been a handbag staple for quite a while, so I knew it would be a good addition. Another favorite is Mac Plumful. After hearing many YouTube vloggers rave about it, I knew it was time to pick it up. The shade didn't disappoint. I also kept a few glosses that would be nice on their own or as toppers for one of the lipsticks. One is the MakeupForever Lab Shine gloss in D16. It is a great nude that looks good on both bare lips and on a nice nude lip. If I want something with a little more pigment, I love the formula of the new Tarte lipsurgence gloss. I've been a long time fan of the pencil form, and the gloss version is great if you want a nice, non-sticky gloss. I also keep a Rachel Roy EOS floating around the bottom of my bag to keep my lips hydrated in the winter months.
Aside from those, I have a few other products that are non-makeup essentials. One is a hand cream. A good hand cream is always a staple in my bag. I love this Tocca hand cream in Bianca that I received in a Birchbox. The 1 ounce size makes it perfect to fit in even the smallest bags. The last thing is a fragrance. It is always good to carry around a rollerball or two for touch ups or application on the go, as I often forget when in a rush. I've had the Taylor Swift Wonderstruck rollerball for ages so I instantly knew it was an essential in this bag. My current fragrance obsession has the Dahlia and Vines fragrance from Nest. Its unlike any other scent I have and is just amazing.
What are your handbag staples?
