So for my first official post, I was thinking I would talk about the Tarte Maracuja Divine Shine Lip Gloss.(Its pronounced mara-cu-ja, not mara-cuja) I have 3 ( all purchased myself from Sephora) in Peaceful, a peachy/ nude pink, Charmed, a princess pink and Achiote, a coralish pink. I think these glosses are a-ma-zing! You can but them from various place like Tarte.com, Sephora, Ulta etc. for about $21 each. They come in 10 different shades + the limited edition Achiote-part of the gifts from the lipstick tree. Peaceful is available also in the mircle of marcuja set from qvc, and I saw it there and liked the color so much that I picked it up individually from sephora. But the first i picked was a pressty soft/princess pink called Charmed and then once chic week came with 15% off everything, I picked up Peaceful, and later bought the Achiote set where I got my last one.
How to use:
To use this amazing gloss, just uncap, click and swipe onto lips. Its just that simple. it takes multiple clicks at first, but once you get through it, in the future it will just be a click or two to apply.
Pros:
First, they have some of the prettiest colors, multiple shades of pinks and nudes that apply on sheer which would compliment almost any tone. Second, the glosses aren't too sticky. Some people claim its not sticky at all, which is a lie because all glosses are sticky... but there is some truth to the claim, the glosses are easier to pull your hair out from your lip than many other glosses I have had which is definitely a plus. Third, the packaging is adorable, the floral sticker and clear spot in the middle that allows you to see how much is left is nice to have.Fourth, the taste/smell is pepperminty. I didn't purposly eat the gloss, but just from the little bits that come in contact with my tongue, the flavor tastes minty and you can smell it too. Its nice because I rather have natural peppermint oil rather than some synthetic cotton candy or gummy bear flavor that could be harmful for me in the long run. Especially since gloss is so easy to ingest. Last, the applicator brush head is nice and easy to apply color to your lips and holds the product very nicely.
Cons:
First, not much color payoff at all. The colors are very sheer, which is great, but sometimes when you need to apply some, unless you have a darker shade like blushing bride or natural beauty, the color payoff is minimal and you would end up needing to apply more product. Second, the tubes don't have a lot of product. For $21, I would expect that the tube would have more product than just .12 oz, and it may sound like a lot now, but when you use it everyday for a week, say 2-3 times a day, the tube is just about half full, and im not piling the product, just 1 to 2 clicks, so for it to be done so quick is a bit much. That leads into my next point about the clicking. To get the product out, It takes like 20-30 clicks, and by the time you get down there, the tube is like a tenth gone! the product itself isnt wasteful, maybe a little that gets caught in the applicator, but just the amount that is in it drives me nuts, because I have to use it more sparingly.
Overall:
This gloss is a great lip product, defintely one of my favorites and one to check out. I would give this a 4.3 out of 5, I know its a weird number, but its between a 4 and a 4.5. For me, the pros outweight the cons, mostly because its health benefits and that its made from maracuja, the portuguese word for passion fruit, which happens to be my favorite fruit and popular flavor in the portuguese world, so the name alone got me to try this product and the fact that im becoming a tartelette because of this can't hurt right? But I would suggest this to anyone looking for a new gloss or a Tarte newbie who wants to try the brand and needs a good intro item.
